Rules of Triathlon (A partial list)
* This is a USAT sanctioned race and USAT officials will be out on the course, strictly enforcing all USAT rules. USAT sanctioning also means all racers times count for national rankings (if you race 3 sanctioned races in 2006)
*All handlebar ends must be solidly plugged to prevent injury.
* It is your responsibility for knowing and following the cycling course. *Always ride on the right side of the road and/or shoulder.
*All participants must obey traffic laws while on the cycling course.
*No drafting during the bike race. Keep 3 bike lengths between you and the person ahead of you. *Always pass on the left-
* When passing, you have only 15 seconds to get within 3 bike lengths and pass the bicycle ahead of you.
*Do not block by riding side by side. If racing with a friend you must have one ahead of the other with at least 3 bike lengths distance.
*Bike helmets are required and must be properly placed on the head and fastened before the participant first mounts the bicycle, at all times when on the bicycle and must not be unfastened or removed until the participant has dismounted.
*Headsets or headphones are not allowed during any time of the race.
*Participants shall refrain from unsportsmanlike conduct including abusive language or conduct. This is only a partial list of the USAT rules. Go to www.usatriathhlon.org for a complete list of triathlon rules. You will only know if you have been time penalized after the end of the race.
