General Info & Race Rules

 

Being a USAT sanctioned event, the following USAT rules will be enforced:

  • Bicycle handle bar ends must be closed with bar plugs, no tape is allowed as a bar plug. Bikes will be checked for bar plugs.
  • All athletes must have a bicycle helmet that straps under the chin and the helmet must be strapped before the rider can mount their bike and must remain on until the rider dismounts their bike.
  • Bicyclist will always ride with the traffic. Kennedy may be closed to auto traffic during the event and the city police will be on the bike course for traffic control.
    Bicyclist must keep at least 3 bike lengths behind themselves and the bike ahead, unless they are passing. If passing, the overtaken bicyclist must enter within the 3 bike length distance and overtake the bike being passed within 15 seconds.
  • Bicyclist cannot ride along side each other. Bicyclist must stay in a single file, except when passing.
  • No outside assistance will be allowed, except for assisting out of the pool for the 6 -8 age group. All participants must be able to swim, bike and run without any outside assistance.
  • No headsets, radios, walkmans, ipod’s etc are ever allowed to be worn by any competitor while on the race course.

There will be an aid station just outside the transition to begin the run and another aid station about ½ mile into the run course. There will be lap counters in the pool and the bike course coordinator will be driving the bike course to bring back any bikers who cannot complete the bike course, due to equipment failure, ie flat tire. Only competitors are allowed in the Transition area, no one else allowed in the Transition area.

Pre-registration is highly recommended to insure you get a T-shirt. You can pre-register on line or by mail in registration thru May 31st. Check in on race day is 7:30-8:30am on Saturday 6/7/8 at the Municipal Pool parking lot. You'll receive your race packet which includes your T-shirt, bib number and bike frame number. The race will start approximately 8:45am with the 6-8 age group. Due to the race check-in taking place in the pool parking lot, parking will not be allowed in the pool parking lot on the morning of the race. Please use the Lions Park drive entrance by the Kiwanis Community House and proceed to the parking area just east of the new Spray Park.
